What do I do when she doesn't know who I am?
You stop correcting and you start joining.
'Mama, it's me' is a test she will fail every time, and the failing hurts you both. Try 'hey beautiful, I brought you coffee' instead. Being recognized is nice. Being safe, warm and spoken to gently is the actual need.
If she thinks you are her sister, be the sister. If she is waiting on a bus that is not coming, sit at the stop a minute and then walk her home. You are not lying to her. You are meeting her where she is standing.
Then go somewhere and cry about it, because it is a real loss and nobody is going to send a card for this one.
